Since 1996, the Acadian Museum is one of the seven sites of the Prince Edward Island Museum & Heritage Foundation, the provincial network of Island museums. Museum and Heritage Prince Edward Island operates seven provincial museums and heritage sites in Prince Edward Island, providing Islanders and visitors alike with an opportunity to discover our Island heritage and culture.
Its purpose is “to study, collect, preserve, interpret, and protect the human and natural heritage of Prince Edward Island for the use, benefit and enjoyment of the people of the province.”
Museum and Heritage PEI is directed by a Board of Governors appointed by the Prince Edward Island’s Executive Council. The Board of Governors hires an Executive Director responsible for the administration of the organization and for the supervision of its seven site directors, including the Acadian Museum’s site director.
