Since April 1, 1996, the Acadian Museum has been one of the seven sites of the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation, the province’s museum network. The Museum and Heritage Foundation of Prince Edward Island operates seven provincial museums and heritage sites, providing Islanders and visitors with the opportunity to discover our Island’s heritage and culture.
Its purpose is to “study, collect, preserve, interpret and protect the human and natural heritage of Prince Edward Island for the use, benefit and enjoyment of the people of the province.”
Upcoming activities
Screening : Trécarré: À la source du son de la Baie Sainte-Marie

As part of the Rendez-vous de la francophonie, there will be a screening of Trécarré: À la source du son de la Baie Sainte-Marie at the Acadian Museum on March 23 at 2 p.m.
This film, presented in French, shows the importance of Acadian traditional music in this region of Nova Scotia. A discussion will follow as well as a jam with local musicians.
Launch of the exhibit:
Lobster bites!

March 30th at 2 p.m.
Come discover how lobster plays a role in Acadian culture, history and its kitchens! Exhibit on loan from the Musée acadien de l'Université de Moncton with artifacts from the Acadian Museum's collection. Free. A lunch will be served.
